MBSE BBS Platforms

From the "error: Can't make signal names on this platform" thread in the MBSE echo.

  1. There is a set of platforms that MBSE is hardcoded for (not sure why);  it checks the platform and the compile will therefore fail if actually not on a supported platform.
  2. The starter of the thread also noted issues with a couple of librarys;  after researching, found them to be zlib1g-dev and libbz-dev.   Use  those in build-depends?

MBSE BBS v0.90.0 Debianization

Create the initial debianization fo the MBSE BBS v0.90.0 application

  • extracted archive to ~/prj/mbsedeb/src
  • cd ~/prj/mbsedeb/src/mbsebbs-0.90.0
  • dh_make -c gpl -e -f ../mbsebbs-0.90.0.tar.bz2
Need to redo that, except use the archive actually obtained from his website (instead of using the distributed version),  so that the writeup for the orig.tar.gz reflects the actual way it was created.

HwB uploaded to Debian Mentors

I have not received a response to the inquiry [1] about the possibility of getting a new snapshot of the Hardware Book site for a new package, so proceeded with updating the package using the existing snapshot.

Updated the package, built it, then uploaded it to the site.
dupload -f -t mentors hwb_040412-3_i386.changes

Emailed an RFS (Request for Sponsor) to the d.d.mentors list. [2]

ITA - The Hardware Book

'The Hardware Book' is a Debian package [1] which "contains misc technical information about computers and other electronic devices", and which was orphaned back in April of 2006 [2]. Today I sent an email that retitles it as an ITA (Intend to Adopt) and changing the owner to myself.
